Q1: Complications of chronic renal failure include:
b)

Primary hyperparathyroidism

True - WRONG.
Long-standing hypocalcaemia, hyperphosphataemia and deficiency of 1,25-dihydroxy vitamin D3, lead to the development of secondary hyperparathyroidism in chronic renal disease. Eventually the parathyroid glands may become autonomous, at which stage tertiary hyperparathyroidism develops.
